COM TU — Cranchi, 14.19m (46ft), Balearic Islands Some yachts are built for crossing oceans; this one is built for the Balearics. At just over 14 metres, COM TU has the right proportions for the islands — quick enough to reach Formentera before the day trippers, compact enough to tuck into the calas along the Ibiza coast where larger yachts have to stand off. Launched by Cranchi in 2007 and refitted in 2020, she carries the practical, well-sorted feel of an Italian production yard that has been building motor yachts since the eighteenth century. The refit brought her back up to charter standard, and it shows in the way she presents. Accommodation is arranged over two en-suite cabins: one with a double bed, one with twin beds, sleeping four guests in all. For day charters, she takes up to twelve — the format most guests choose here, with a long lunch at anchor, swimming off the stern and a slow run back at golden hour. A single professional crew member runs the yacht and looks after guests throughout, which keeps things informal rather than staged: the itinerary shifts with the wind and with what you feel like doing, and there's no formality to negotiate before it does. Straightforward, well-maintained, and sized exactly right for island cruising — COM TU is for charterers who want the water more than the spectacle.
