CALM DOWN

Launched in 2023 by Fethiye Shipyard, CALM DOWN is a 30-metre (99ft) motor yacht built in Turkey for the waters she now calls home — the bays and inlets of the Turkish coast, where a yacht of this size finds anchorages larger vessels have to admire from a distance. Her accommodation follows an unusual logic, and a generous one: six cabins for twelve guests, of which three are owner's cabins. Rather than the familiar hierarchy of one principal suite and a descending order of guest quarters, CALM DOWN puts several parties on equal footing — a layout that makes real sense for two or three families cruising together, or a group of friends where nobody has to draw the short straw. Two further cabins are arranged with a double bed each, and a sixth with twin beds. Detailed bed configuration is available on request. Underway she is unhurried by design, cruising at 12 knots with a top speed of 14 — the right rhythm for a coastline best explored in short hops between swimming stops rather than long passages. A crew of seven looks after twelve guests, a ratio that shows itself in the details more than in any single feature: meals served where and when you want them, cabins turned around while you are ashore, tenders ready before you have finished asking. The service is discreet rather than ceremonial, which is generally what guests remember.
