S/Y CLOUD DANCER — Lagoon 42, 2018 — Thailand A 2018 Lagoon 42 in her four-cabin layout, CLOUD DANCER is built for the kind of cruising the Andaman Sea does best: short island hops, long anchorage lunches, and the option to push a little farther when the wind is right. The pedigree is clear. Exterior lines by Patrick le Quément, naval architecture by VPLP Design — a studio better known for racing hulls — give the 42 her curved, low-slung profile. What matters more once you're aboard is how well the deck works. Wide transoms make boarding from a dock or the dinghy straightforward, and just two low steps bring you up to a single-level cockpit. To starboard, a dinette seats eight comfortably; to port, a smaller lounge suits two; and there's additional seating forward of the davits. Steps lead up to the coachroof, where an integrated sun pad waits. The raised helm to port is one of the yacht's genuinely well-resolved details. Visibility forward is good, conversation with the cockpit is easy, and there's real working room for two — one on the wheel, one on the lines — plus space to pass behind the helm seat down into the cockpit. Everything falls within reach of the Goïot wheel, from the B&G multifunction display to the Spinlock clutches, which is why a catamaran of this size and sail area can be handled single-handed when needed. A three-panel glass door slides open to bring the cockpit and saloon onto one continuous level. Inside, the L-shaped settee runs athwartships and doubles as the seat for the outboard-facing navigation station. The U-shaped galley is split across the beam: three-burner Eno stove and sink to starboard, refrigeration to port, with the top-loading fridge set at the head of the steps down to the port hull. Accommodation is arranged across four cabins, each with a double bed and its own bathroom, with capacity for up to ten guests aboard.
