Maralyn 2 — Lagoon 40 · Phuket, Thailand Launched in March 2020, Maralyn 2 carries the design language Lagoon introduced on its larger models and applies it to a 40-foot platform: angular transoms, wide rectangular wrap-around glazing, and a coachroof that flows aft into an upward-angled composite bimini. On the water she reads bigger than her length suggests — and, more to the point, she lives bigger too. The foredeck has been softened with sun-lounging cushions laid over the deck hatches, which makes it the natural place to end up mid-morning with a book, or at dusk with something cold in hand. A practical touch worth knowing about: the large porthole in the saloon's forward window lets drinks and plates pass straight through, sparing anyone the walk back around to the galley. From the cockpit, a few steps lead up to the starboard helm station — set apart enough for the person driving to concentrate, close enough that they remain part of the conversation. It opens directly onto the starboard side deck, handy when there are lines to take or an anchor to watch. Aft, the squared-off transoms and two low steps up from the swim platforms make coming aboard straightforward, including from a pontoon when moored alongside. Inside, the volume is used carefully rather than sparingly. Warm wood veneers and leather-look panels give the saloon a settled feel, and the L-shaped settee is positioned so people can move around each other without negotiating. The galley on the main deck is properly equipped for real cooking at anchor: three-burner stove, under-counter front-loading refrigerator, cookware stowage in the aft port corner, a second refrigerator to starboard and provisions lockers overhead. A compact navigation desk with multifunction display and instruments sits forward to port. Accommodation runs to four cabins for eight guests, each with a double bed. Two crew look after the sailing, the cooking and the day-to-day logistics, which is what turns a catamaran of this size into a genuinely restful week rather than a shared project. Maralyn 2 suits a group of friends or two families sailing together around Phuket and the islands of the Andaman Sea — shallow-draught anchorages, short hops, long lunches.
