CIUTADELLA — Esterel, 1967 Some yachts are of their time; a few outlive it. Launched in 1967 by the French yard Esterel as a one-off build, CIUTADELLA carries the signature of an era when hulls were still shaped in wood — full displacement, wood superstructure, teak decks underfoot. A refit completed in 2026 keeps her running and presenting as she should, which is what allows a yacht of this vintage to be chartered rather than merely admired. The proportions tell you what she is: 72 gross tonnes on a 5.06-metre beam, narrow and purposeful by modern standards. She cruises at 18 knots and will hold 25 at the top end — genuinely quick for a classic, and enough to make a crossing between Balearic anchorages a matter of a morning rather than a day. It is an outdoor yacht in the truest sense, better suited to bare feet and long lunches than to sealed interiors.
