Sunreef 70 — Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays and Sydney Harbour A Sunreef 70 is a sailing catamaran built for genuine passage-making, not just for anchorages. Certified as an ocean-going vessel, she has the range and the sea manners to handle demanding conditions — reassuring when your week runs from the sheltered water of the Whitsundays out to the Great Barrier Reef. Her most recent refit was completed in 2023. The flybridge is the Sunreef signature, and on this hull it does exactly what it should: a raised, shaded vantage point above the deck traffic, ideal for a long lunch under sail or a sundowner once the anchor is down. Below the hardtop, the main deck saloon is wide and low-lit by panoramic glazing that keeps the seascape in view from every seat. Sofas face two coffee tables that convert into a single dining table for eight, with the internal helm station close at hand and a fully equipped galley on the same level. A 40in LCD screen and an audio system covering both interior and exterior spaces round out the evenings. Accommodation is arranged across the two hulls for eight guests in four cabins, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Three cabins are fitted with a double bed, including the owner's cabin, which occupies the greater part of one hull and has its own generous bathroom forward with a separate shower. The fourth cabin is fitted with twin beds — useful for children, friends travelling together, or a couple who simply prefer separate beds. The crew handle the sailing, the cooking and the logistics, so the boundary between a passage and a day at anchor stays invisible to guests. Water toys are stowed properly rather than piled on deck, including a jet ski in a purpose-built locker forward — ready the moment the anchor sets.
