SUNSET — 35m (116ft) Sunseeker, 2019 Sunseeker's reputation was built on fast, well-sorted motor yachts that feel as composed at anchor as they do on passage, and SUNSET sits at the upper end of that lineage. Delivered in 2019 and based on Australia's East Coast, she is a genuinely current yacht — recent enough that the finishes, systems and layout still feel of the moment rather than of a previous decade. Her cruising grounds explain much of her appeal. From the Gold Coast she can run north to Tangalooma for a day of calm water and sand, or commit to the longer game: the Whitsundays, with their protected passages and reef anchorages, and on up to Cairns. Few programmes offer that range of scenery on a single itinerary, and a yacht of this size handles the distances comfortably. Life aboard settles quickly into a rhythm. The sun deck, with its jacuzzi, is where most of the day tends to end up — the sort of space that works equally well for a long lunch at anchor or a quiet hour once the tenders are stowed. A professional crew runs the yacht full-time, which in practice means the logistics of remote Queensland cruising — provisioning, timing the reef, choosing the right anchorage for the forecast — are handled before you have to think about them. The water toy package is unusually complete for the size: jet skis, a Seabob, a JetSurf, and paddleboards for the flatter mornings.
