S/Y Elton — 31.7m sailing yacht A 31.7-metre sloop launched by Windship Trident in 1992, Elton pairs a serious sailing pedigree with the kind of interior volume that makes long passages feel unhurried. Her exterior lines and naval engineering come from Tripp Design, while the interior is signed by Donald Starkey — a name associated with some of the most enduring superyacht interiors of the period, and one that explains the restraint you find below decks. A refit completed in 2024 keeps her presentation current. Under sail she reaches 12.5 knots, with a comfortable 9-knot cruising pace: enough to make real ground between anchorages without ever turning the day into a delivery run. Accommodation Four cabins host up to eight guests. Alongside the owner's cabin are three further cabins, each fitted with a double bed. All are en-suite, with generous wardrobe space and a skylight overhead — a detail that matters more than it sounds, filling each cabin with daylight and a clear view of the rig above. Life on deck The aft deck is where the day settles. C-shaped sofas face each other on either side, with a large table between them for lunch in the shade of the optional Bimini and dinner once the light goes. Aft, the stern steps down to the swim platform, where the ladder puts the sea within easy reach — the simplest and best feature of any sailing yacht at anchor. Crew and cruising A crew of three looks after guests aboard, with the discretion and rhythm that a yacht of this size calls for. Elton cruises the Western and Central Mediterranean and the Adriatic: France, Monaco, Corsica, Italy, Sardinia and Sicily, through to Croatia, Montenegro and Albania.
