Paulena — Sangermani, 22.8m / 74'10" classic yawl, cruising Italy There is a particular pleasure in sailing a yacht that has never been asked to become something else. Drawn in 1964 and launched in 1966 by the Ligurian yard Sangermani, Paulena has been kept faithful to her original design throughout her life, with a refit completed in 2012. The result is a yawl of genuine pedigree — unmistakable lines, and the kind of behaviour under sail that only a hull of this era and provenance delivers. Below, the saloon is bright and generous, built around a dining table that seats ten without crowding. Accommodation is arranged in four cabins. The owner's quarters lie aft: a full-width cabin with a double bed, with its own shower room and sink and a separate toilet compartment. Forward of the saloon are two cabins with twin beds, sharing a large bathroom with shower, sink and toilet, plus a cabin with a single bed. Air conditioning is fitted throughout, hot and cold, with individual control in each room. Onboard systems reflect a yacht kept properly current: television with video, interior and exterior stereo, a PC with internet connection and satellite telephone. Snorkelling gear and sport-fishing tackle are aboard for the anchorages that invite it. Crew quarters and the galley are forward, in separate compartments with their own access — a classic arrangement that keeps service discreet and the guest areas entirely yours. Paulena is run by a professional crew, and the galley is a point of real pride: the table here is taken seriously, with a wide choice of dishes and good Italian wines to match. For a family or a group of friends who want the Mediterranean at sailing pace, along the Italian coast, Paulena offers something few charter yachts can — authenticity, and the comfort to enjoy it properly.
