LONG ISLAND

LONG ISLAND is a 39-metre (128ft) luxury gulet launched in 2019 by Fethiye Shipyard, on Turkey's south-western coast, where the sailing-yacht tradition of the region is still built in timber by hand. A refit completed in 2022 keeps her presentation current. Her scale is what sets the tone. At this length, a gulet stops being a coastal charter yacht and starts behaving like a proper superyacht: broad, uncluttered deck areas, generous shade, and the kind of beam that makes long lunches at anchor genuinely comfortable rather than merely possible. Under power she cruises at 11 knots with a top speed of 15, comfortable passage-making speeds for the Turkish coast and the Greek islands, where the distances between anchorages are short and the pleasure lies in stopping often.
